Essay Contest Information

In light of the current events, Elbow Creek Magazine has decided to hold an essay contest that relates to those events.  Elbow Creek Magazine will donate a total of $100 in the name of each of our winners to a charity dealing with the victims of the September 11th terrorist attacks.

Write an essay on “What It Means To Be An American”.  The essay can be of any length, and is open to all ages.  Essays must be received by January 15th, 2002..  Winners will be announced February 15th, 2002.  All submissions must be sent via e-mail to editor@elbowcreek.com , and should have the word “America” as it’s subject title.  Winning entries will be chosen by an independent judge.  First place prize will be $50.  Second place prize, $30.  Third place prize, $20.  NOTE:  Winners will not receive cash prizes directly.  These monies will be donated in their name to the charity.  Elbow Creek Magazine retains all publishing rights to all submissions for a period of one year.  If space allows, all entries will be published.
